How we grade condition and describe wear.
Item Condition Standards
Every piece is graded in person by our team on the same scorecard. We describe the wear we find in plain language, and show it to you in the photos and condition report before you buy.
| Condition | Description |
|---|---|
| Like New | Presents as it did the day it was delivered. On close inspection our team found nothing to note: upholstery, finish and cushions are crisp, clean and fully intact. |
| Excellent | Carefully kept and close to flawless. Look closely in bright light and you may find a faint mark or a slight softening at a corner. It will not be noticed from across a room. |
| Very Good | Lived with, and clearly looked after. Light, honest signs of use, such as gentle softening of the cushions, a small surface mark or the first hint of sun on the fabric, are noted in the condition report and photos. They give the piece warmth without taking anything from the design. |
| Good | An established piece with real presence. Visible wear from regular use (soft cushions, light scuffs, some sun fading) is documented photo by photo, so you know exactly what you are getting. Fully sound and ready for its next home. |
| Fair | A piece with a story, and the patina to show it. The wear is clearly visible and fully documented in the photos and condition report. Structurally sound and fully functional. For the buyer who values character over polish. |
