Sell a Whole Household of Furniture in Victoria
Your home has sold, an estate needs settling, or you’re moving away. Listing forty pieces on Marketplace one at a time isn’t realistic. We take care of about 95% of the hassle and pay you most of, or more than, what you’d get selling privately.
Built for whole-home moves
If you have 10 or more pieces that fit what we sell, an in-home assessment may help. Call us first: for many sellers, our online quote form is the faster route. We take mid-range to high-end, brand-name contemporary and transitional furniture, generally under 20 years old. We don’t take IKEA, The Brick, Leon’s or traditional styles.
What the in-home assessment involves
- A visit of 1.5 to 3 hours, by a team of one or two, led by Elwyn.
- About 30 minutes of your time to go over details. The rest is spent inspecting and photographing every piece.
For each piece, we’ll ask for the original retail price, the year you bought it, the brand and the model. The more of this you have, the higher your payout. If some of it is missing, our experience with used furniture can often fill the gaps.
Because every piece is inspected and photographed in your home, our showroom staff can show those photos to buyers before the furniture even arrives. Sometimes a piece sells before pickup. That’s a bonus, not a promise.
Timed around your possession date
Most sellers plan to move out a few days or weeks before possession. With more than 5 days’ notice, we can usually book pickup for the last day you live in the home, so you keep what you need until you no longer need it. On a tighter schedule, we’ll do our best, but we can’t guarantee it.
Pickup is done by professional movers we work with closely: Add2Cart, Hour Movers, City Pro Delivery or Consider It Done Moving.
What about the pieces we don’t take?
We’ll recommend other local businesses and charities for anything we can’t take, most often the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. If another business or charity accepts a piece, our movers can take it there for you, so there’s one less thing to arrange.
Selling on someone else’s behalf, or from out of town
The person who contacts us often isn’t the owner. It might be a realtor, an executor, an adult child or an assistant. Many of our sellers don’t live in Victoria at all.
We can give an initial yes or no from realtor photos. For the in-home assessment, we just need someone on site, and a helpful realtor or friend often fills that role. Payment is by e-transfer: on pickup if we buy the pieces upfront, or after they sell if you consign. With auto-deposit, e-transfers arrive instantly.
A recent example
A seller had just sold a penthouse in town when the buyer backed out of taking the furniture at the last minute. The seller had under 10 days before leaving town, and more than 40 pieces to clear. We completed an in-home assessment and booked our movers within that window. The seller didn’t have to list each piece or give everything away.
Upfront purchase or consignment
Prefer to be paid on the day of pickup? We can buy your pieces upfront: one offer, paid by e-transfer when the movers collect them, with nothing to wait for or track. Offers vary from piece to piece.
Prefer to consign? You’re paid a share of the net sale as each piece sells: 50% for pieces over $500, 40% under $500, and 30% for dining tables, coffee tables, bed frames and mattresses. Payouts go out on the next 15th or 30th after each sale, and you can track everything in your consignor portal.
“I had the pleasure of selling my Restoration Hardware furniture for maximum value and little to no effort on my part. Elwyn Thom, the owner of Recertified Furniture, couldn’t have made it easier for me.”

Frequently asked questions
How many pieces do I need for an in-home assessment? Ten or more pieces that fit what we sell. Call us first so we can confirm it’s the right fit; otherwise, send photos through our quote form.
Do I need to be there? No. We need someone on site to let us in and answer questions, such as your realtor or a friend.
How quickly can you clear the home? With more than 5 days’ notice, we can usually book pickup for the day you need. Shorter timelines are possible but not guaranteed.
What happens to pieces that don’t sell? After 5 months, you can pick them up, we can donate them at no cost to you, or we can keep them for sale at an adjusted price.
