Why sofa beds sell well here

Many people in Victoria live in smaller homes and want seating that doubles as a guest bed. A quality sleeper sofa does both. Every sofa bed we sell is professionally cleaned first, which we believe is part of why ours sell faster than uncleaned ones listed privately.

What we take

Mid-range to high-end sleeper sofas from reputable brands, in contemporary or transitional styles, generally under 20 years old, with a fully working mechanism. Buyers ask for all the well-known names, including Luonto, American Leather Comfort Sleeper, Ligne Roset, Mobital, Palliser, Stylus, EQ3, Rove Concepts, Decor-Rest and Restoration Hardware.

These are examples, not a complete list. We accept mid-range to high-end contemporary pieces from hundreds of makers. See every brand we accept, or just send us photos.

We don’t take unbranded pieces, budget brands like IKEA, The Brick or Leon’s, or traditional styles.

What we check and fix

Every sofa bed gets a full inspection, inside and out, of both the frame and the mechanism. The mechanism must work fully before we sell it. If yours is broken, it isn’t always fixable, because many mechanisms use proprietary parts that can’t be bought separately.

The mattress inside needs to be in excellent condition, and we sanitize every one before sale. We rarely replace a sofa bed mattress, because the cost usually cuts too far into your payout.

The upholstery is cleaned in-house with the method that suits the fabric or leather, the same way we clean our sofas.

The move is on us to arrange

Sofa beds are heavier and harder to move than regular sofas. The professional movers we work with are fully equipped to move them safely, including taking them apart and putting them back together when a doorway or staircase calls for it.

How it works

  1. Send photos through our quote form, including one with the bed pulled out, and we’ll reply with a price range.
  2. Movers pick it up, usually with about 5 business days’ notice. We pay the pickup cost upfront and deduct it from your payout.
  3. We inspect, clean, sanitize, photograph and give it a multi-point condition score.
  4. We price it from its brand, age, original retail price, condition and the current market. Most pieces sell for 30–80% off retail.
  5. You track it in your consignor portal and get paid on the next 15th or 30th after it sells.

On consignment you receive 50% of the net sale for pieces over $500, and 40% under $500. Over 90% of our pieces sell within 3 months.

“The process was straightforward and clear, and the service (everything from pick-up to selling it at a fair price) was seamless.”

Frequently asked questions

Is there really a market for my sofa bed? Yes. Demand in Victoria is strong, thanks to the number of people living in smaller spaces who need furniture that does two jobs.

My mechanism sticks. Can you fix it? Sometimes, but not always, since many mechanisms use proprietary parts. Mention it in your quote request and we’ll tell you honestly.

Do you replace the mattress? Rarely. The mattress needs to be in excellent condition already, and we sanitize it before sale.

What if it doesn’t sell? After 5 months, you can pick it up, we can donate it at no cost to you, or we can keep it for sale at an adjusted price.
