Sell Your Sofa or Sectional in Victoria

Selling a sofa privately means photos, messages, no-shows and strangers carrying it down your stairs. We take care of about 95% of that hassle and pay you most of, or more than, what you’d get selling it yourself. Since May 2023, we’ve re-homed 542 sofas, sectionals and loveseats.

What we take

Mid-range to high-end sofas and sectionals from reputable brands or design houses, in contemporary or transitional styles, generally under 20 years old. Brands we often see include Restoration Hardware, Stylus, Ligne Roset, Natuzzi, BoConcept, Roche Bobois, Room & Board, Stressless, EQ3, Article, Rove Concepts, American Leather, B&B Italia, Minotti, de Sede, Fredericia, Camerich, Gus* Modern, Blu Dot, Palliser and Decor-Rest.

These are examples, not a complete list. We accept mid-range to high-end contemporary pieces from hundreds of makers. See every brand we accept, or just send us photos.

We don’t take unbranded sofas, budget brands like IKEA, The Brick or Leon’s, or traditional styles, even in excellent condition.

Not perfect? Send it anyway

A sofa doesn’t need to be flawless. If it’s under 20 years old and from a brand we accept, we can often take it with stains, sun fading, minor pet damage, small tears or a little sagging. We weigh the cost of preparing it against what it will sell for, and we’ll tell you honestly if it’s worth it.

What we check and fix

All upholstery cleaning happens in-house. We match the method to the fabric, using hot water extraction, steam, spot cleaning, dry cleaning and dry vacuuming. Leather gets its own treatment, and the right method depends on the type of leather.

We handle minor upholstery repairs and replace cushion foam where needed. Frame repairs go to a specialist repair shop in town. We don’t re-upholster in-house; it’s usually only worth it for sofas that originally sold for five figures.

Lost a connector on your modular sectional? We can often source a replacement before listing.

How it works

  1. Send photos through our quote form and we’ll reply with a price range.
  2. Professional movers pick it up, usually with about 5 business days’ notice. We pay the pickup cost upfront and deduct it from your payout.
  3. We inspect, clean and repair it, photograph it professionally and give it a multi-point condition score.
  4. We price it from its brand, age, original retail price, condition score and the current market. Most pieces sell for 30–80% off retail. Leather and fabric are priced the same way; leather isn’t automatically worth more.
  5. You track it in your consignor portal and get paid on the next 15th or 30th after it sells.

On consignment you receive 50% of the net sale for pieces over $500, and 40% under $500. Over 90% of our pieces sell within 3 months.

“We just sold our designer sectional through Recertified Furniture. We were so pleased at how quick and easy it was to sell our sectional. We didn’t need to stress about arranging a deal on our own or moving the furniture ourselves. Elwin and the team collected, cleaned, and marketed it, and it wasn’t long before we received our payout.”

Frequently asked questions

How long until I’m paid? On consignment, most sellers are paid within 2 to 3 months of pickup. If you choose an upfront purchase instead, we pay you on the day of pickup.

Which sofas sell fastest? Mid-range to high-end sofas, sectionals and sleeper sofas are all in strong demand. Mainstream designs sell at a steady pace; very unusual pieces tend to sell either very fast or slowly.

What if it doesn’t sell? If a piece is with us over 3 months, the price may drop 5–15%, and again after 4 months. After 5 months, you can pick it up, we can donate it at no cost to you, or we can keep it for sale at an adjusted price.
