4 Things to Consider
A sofa is an investment in your living space, and we want to make sure you make the right one. After refurbishing hundreds of sofas, we've seen firsthand what makes a sofa last and what doesn't. Here are three essential factors to consider before your next purchase:
- Longevity: How Long Do You Need It To Last?
Sofas aren't created equal. Ask yourself if you see this sofa in your home 2, 5, or even 10+ years from now. A good indicator of longevity is the manufacturer's original warranty. It reflects the build quality and how confident they are in its durability.
- Lifestyle: Pets, Kids, and Spills
If you have pets or kids, your sofa will see its fair share of dirt, kids jumping, and spills. Look for these features:
- Removable/Reversible Cushion Covers: Removable covers are a lifesaver. You can easily clean them or flip them over to hide wear and tear, extending the sofa's life.
- Solid Hardwood Frame: A solid hardwood frame is a must for families. It ensures the sofa withstands the rigors of daily life, from kids' play to movie nights.
- Size Matters: Will It Fit?
Apartments and older homes often have tight doorways and elevators. Our rule of thumb: if the sofa (or its largest section, if it's a sectional) is under 37" deep, 31" high (base to top of backboard), and 84" long, it should fit almost anywhere. If it's larger, consult with us to ensure a smooth delivery.
- Before you buy a sofa bed…
Sofa beds are convenient for guests, but they come with tradeoffs. They're often less comfortable than regular sofas and can be significantly more expensive. Cheaper options, like trundle bed sofas, are notorious for poor quality and short lifespans. Our advice? Invest in a quality sofa for everyday use and a good inflatable mattress for occasional guests.
